Mammography Unit

The MAMMOGRAPH  D-TOMO unit is Italray's latest solution in the field of clinical mammography (mammography, stereotactic biopsy, and tomosynthesis), employing a state-of-the-art direct digital imaging detector. A basic configuration of the unit without the tomosynthesis function and the isocentric arm is also available – MAMMOGRAPH FFDM.

Direct radiation detection, made possible by the use of an amorphous selenium detector (the detector converts X-ray radiation directly into electric charges), eliminates the light scattering effect, thereby improving the quality and, above all, the contrast and sharpness of the image.

The system is characterized by very high efficiency and excellent image quality, which is why it is successfully used both in screening programs and in in-depth clinical diagnostics. Thanks to its modern yet reliable and simple design, the mammography unit helps increase the efficiency of the Radiology Department.

The quality and improved diagnostic value of the image are also achieved through an advanced breast compression mechanism (controlled manually and by motor). The interchangeable compression paddles are gently and smoothly curved, ensuring greater comfort and better adherence of the breast to the detector, genuinely improving image quality.

• Automatic exposure control (AEC) with semi-automatic (manual kV/mAs auto) and automatic (kV/mAs auto) selection of settings based on the assessment of breast density during a test exposure.
• A manual and automated compression system with adjustment, display, and automatic release of compression force after exposure, with an emergency “un-lock” safeguard that releases the patient in the event of a power failure, including a set of compression plates 18x24 cm and 24x30 cm
• Magnification kit: x1.5 and x2 with automatic focal spot size selection
• Operator control panel with a graphical LCD display showing: exposure parameters, tube status, an exposure counter, and the date and time of the last exposure
• Digital display: C-arm tilt, compression force and thickness

LOW DOSE

TOMOSYNTHESIS

Examinations using the three-dimensional 3D mammography technique enable even better detection of breast cancer and spatial localization of cancerous lesions.

STEREOTACTIC BIOPSY

Equipping the unit with a biopsy attachment and an isocentric arm with an X-ray tube enables stereotactic biopsy (including in the prone position) and precise determination of the tumor's location.

DETECTORS

Image acquisition is based on state-of-the-art digital detectors made using a-Se (amorphous selenium) technology that employ the direct radiation detection technique – this eliminates the light scattering effect, thereby improving the quality and, above all, the contrast and sharpness of the image
