
eXP acquisition methods
eXP acquisition methods streamline the work of an imaging suite and increase its throughput without compromising image quality. They comprise SpeedUp, TR Reduction and Elliptical K Space.

SpeedUp
Faster and better. SpeedUp is a compressed sensing reconstruction developed by Esaote — an acceleration of MR data acquisition based on semi-random, incomplete sampling of k-space.
- Technology patented by Esaote and developed in its own research and development department.
- Available in Esaote MRI scanners since 2015.
- Esaote was the first manufacturer to bring it to market.
SpeedUp extends the capabilities of an imaging suite in three areas:
- higher diagnostic value of the examination,
- better patient comfort,
- greater productivity of the imaging suite.

Esaote was the first company to introduce this technology to magnetic resonance imaging.

SpeedUp — how it works and what it delivers
- Shorter examinations. SpeedUp markedly reduces scan time thanks to incoherent, sparse sampling of K-space.
- Fewer artefacts and less noise. An iterative non-linear regression algorithm limits image artefacts and background noise, improving overall image quality.
TR Reduction
Faster and better. TR Reduction is an acquisition method patented by Esaote and based on FSE sequences. The technology controls the Echo Train Length by means of a dedicated algorithm for data acquisition and K-space reconstruction. This delivers:
- examination time shortened by up to 30% (depending on TE, ETL and ESP),
- less image blurring thanks to a shorter Echo Train Length,
- adaptive, intelligent technology that supports the selection of optimal parameters,
- compatibility with other imaging sequences, including SpeedUp and MAR.
Elliptical K Space
Faster. A special way of filling K-space: only those 2D–3D in-plane encodings that belong to the ellipse inscribed in the rectangle of standard K-space are acquired.
Put simply: the corners of K-space contribute little to image quality, so leaving them out reduces the amount of data to be collected — the examination takes less time and quality does not suffer.
